Top Facts on Global Warming

What are some quick important facts on our current global warming conditions?

Here are some quick important facts on global warming. Firstly, the average temperature around the world has risen by 0.8 degree Celsius since 1880 and much of which only happened during our past decades, as reported by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Other facts on global warming are the concern of the rate of temperature increase and the places affected by this. According to a number of climate studies sources our last two decades were the hottest we have faced over the past 400 years. While, according to the United States IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), we have experienced some of the warmest times for the 11 of the past 12 years since 1850. It is also favorable to note the fact from the multinational Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report from 2000 to 2004 that states the average temperature in places such as Alaska, and areas in western Canada as well as eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average.

Another important fact out of the facts on global warming is the rapidly disappearing of Arctic ice which is a major concern because the arctic region may completely have an ice free summer by 2040 or earlier. This would also mean that polar bears and other land living creatures may face a serious problem with the decrease in arctic land mass.

These facts are far from our main concerns with other facts on global warming such as the rapidly melting of glacier and mountain snows. Take Montana’s Glacier National Park for instance, they now only have 27 glacier left oppose to 150 in 1910 and mountains in the northern hemisphere are getting their spring a week earlier and winters a week later.

It is also a sad fact to see that coral reefs which are very sensitive to even a small change in water temperature are suffering from bleaching and some even die due to the overly intensive stress response. Reported that some of the coral areas are experiencing bleaching rate as high as 70 percent, which is bad.

Another serious note on the facts of global warming is the increase occurrence of extreme weather patterns such as wildfires, fierce tropical storms and heat waves which experts claim to be due to climate changes.
These facts on global warming are but only a fraction of what else is out there. But i’m sure from these facts alone you can see for yourself where our world is headed towards with these rising issue on climate change.
