Global warming is one of the most discussed issues among environmentalist. It is clear that humans play an important part on the earth and ecosystem. Unfortunately, it is always hard to reduce the effects of global warming whenever politics is involved, as most leaders and scientist may not collaborate together to combat global warming. Scientists have researched and done many analysis and statistics throughout the years on global warming. Here are some of the important global warming statistics and facts.
In between 1905 and 2005, the average Earth’s surface temperature of the planet has been proven to have increased up to 1.33 degrees Fahrenheit. Furthermore, over the last half century, the rate was twice the rate of the previous half century. Besides that, 11 out of the last 12 years are one of the few warmest 12 years since 1850. This proves that the earth is definitely getting warmer and the rates of it increasing are alarming. With recent rise in the temperature of earth’s surface due to global warming, climate on certain areas or region will change and bad weather such as droughts will occur.
Besides that, based on the US government’s EPA (the Environmental Protection Agency) analysis and research, they have found that the sea level along the Gulf and Mid Atlantic has increase up to 5-6 inches more than the average of the last century. Furthermore, snow and glaciers that covers the land are slowly deteriorating on both sides on the equator caused by the effects of global warming. This will increase the potency of natural disasters such as floods and other weather disturbances such as El Nino to happen. This will certainly give an adverse effect on humans and the living creatures on coastal areas.
In conclusion, the earth is dying slowly because of global warming and its effects to the nature. Although scientists believe that the earth has been cooled and warmed many times before humans exist, it is rebuttable that humans are to be blamed for global warming. As our activities and actions are contributing into the increase in temperature, the only question that is left is how serious is it and you are going to respond to it as it affects us and our children.
