Global warming is a big issue in the world today. Teaching children about the effects of global warming can be rather difficult due to their playful and ignorant nature. Most of the time, young children tend to take no notice when you tell or educate them about global warming verbally. They are keener to know about something when it is told in the form of experiments and quiz. But, how do you instill the knowledge of global warming to them effectively?
The answer to that is by doing simple global warming project for kids. There are many ideas for projects and experiments you can do on your own to educate your children about the effects of global warming.
For instance, you can conduct a simple project in your own kitchen with the ice cubes in your refrigerator. Start by taking a large ice cube out from the refrigerator and tell your children that the ice cube represents the Northern cold regions of the Earth. Then, put the ice cube in a cup or a bowl and place it under the hot sun. Tell your children that the heat from the sun represents global warming. Tell your kids to watch how the ice slowly melts until the water overflows from the cup or bowl. After that, inform to them that the overflowed water represents the floods which is one of the effects of global warming
Apart from that there is another easy global warming project for kids you also do in your home with the use of a non flammable bottle. Start by filling the bottle with hot air when you boil water on a kettle. Then ask your children to feel the bottle whether is it warm or hot. Tell them that the hot air represents the green house gasses of global warming and the bottle represents the Earth we live in.
With this simple home project and experiments, they will understand and get a deeper insight what global warming is and its causes.
